Fall is my favorite season, which is odd to me because it’s an in-between affair. I remember once expressing my sentimentality about Fall to someone (I can’t remember who) and they remarked they weren’t as fond of Fall because you can’t do all the fun Summer sports and recreation or the exciting stuff of Winter: skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, skating…etc. I’m very recreationally minded but I think I love Fall as much as I do because it’s a permission slip to recluse.

Anyone else feel obligated to take advantage of Summer’s sun or Winter’s fresh powder?
I’ve always loved secret excuses to rest and go within– time to look forward to a changing season. Fall to me symbolizes so much of who I am. Although outwardly appearing extroverted I have an introverted heart. It’s hard to explain.
Fall to me invokes a sort of coming home. A turn up the heat and snuggle up sort of feeling. The best. It’s the season before all the best holidays. Although my family is very small I still have this big hearted spirit, the kind of spirit large families elicit during holidays.
Fall has the air of anticipation. Would you agree that sometimes the anticipation is just as exciting as the actual event? It’s preparation like packing for an exciting trip, except we prepare for winter.

Fall is vibrantly colorful and the sunsets are perfect. Everything glows with golden light. The sun sets at the perfect time, not too late like summer and not too early like winter. It’s just right.
Fall is just the right amount of clothing. Not too bundled that you have no shape but not so naked that you have to worry about that bikini bod. Neutral colors–my favorite, are back in.
Fall is new beginnings and harvest. Kids begin school. Parents get a break. We get to enjoy summers bounty with a season of comfort foods. Pumpkin everything…Apple everything… And soup. Ahhhh, for the love of soup.

May you rest.
May you embrace endings and transitions.
May your heart leap in anticipation for new beginnings.
May you be snug and happy in the liminal space as we await a new season.

Nice way to summer it up. I mean sum.
